Every year, SOS Children's Village Croatia makes a list of necessary investments. It includes, among other things, maintenance of existing facilities – 32 family houses where children live with their SOS mothers, 4 youth facilities housing 15 high school students each, SOS Social Center and other facilities.

With such a large number of facilities, it is understandable that a few are in need of renovation every year. Our corporate partners help us in this task.

In order to keep the maintenance work up to the standard required for child care facilities, we designed a system under which the corporate partners cover the cost of work done by professional contractors, who are helped by the volunteers – employees of the partner company.

Partners can choose between house painting, window replacement, playground repairs and painting, landscaping and similar activities. They always work in cooperation with the professionals.

The professional contractors take care of the expert side of the job, but the involvement of volunteers is extremely important: they help with the preparation and final clean-up and with other simpler tasks. In addition to volunteer work, they also get to know the SOS Children's Village and spend time with children and SOS mothers.

Benefits from the partnership:
  • volunteer work is always completed within a day
  • volunteers are involved on several levels – in addition to helping with the work itself, volunteers have the opportunity to spend time with children and SOS mothers
  • involvement of professional contractors ensures high quality work done in the minimum amount of time, which means that the daily life of children, families and Village remains free of distractions
